Say Hello to Belle

We got a new kitten! Meet Belle! We had originally decided to get another cat to be a friend to Bijou. We got her to hopefully make the transition of Bijou being the center of attention, over to the new baby a little easier. Well, Bijou is starting to accept the fact that she has a baby sister, but we really have gotten to love her!

Belle is so much fun to just watch, as kittens are naturally entertaining. She loves to skid around the pergo floor, chase her toy balls, and torment her big sister. One of the funniest things she does is she will actually run in circles chasing her own tail, and when she finally catches it, she chews on it for awhile. It is really silly!

Check her out on the video page as well, and you can see how acrobatic she is. She is a lot of fun, and very cuddly and loving with everyone. She is very different from her big sister, and we are hoping that she can rub off some of her positive qualities onto Bijou. In the meantime, it is funny to see the two interact, and to watch the two different personalities clash as they try to learn to live with each other!

We think that having Belle in the house has provided some fun entertainment for us, as well as companionship for Bijou. You rarely see the one without the other. That does not mean that they are "hanging out" in any means. Most of the time, this is just meaning that Bijou is keeping an "eye" on her sister, watching to see what she is doing.

The kitten has taken over sleeping with us at night, and that makes me feel a little bad for Bijou, as she used to sleep on top of Jen at night. Now, Belle has taken that spot as well. She will most of the time sleep between our heads, but she likes to sleep on top of Jen's side, as Bijou used to do. We usually have to kick her out of the room between 5 and 5:30 in the morning, as she is ready to play, and we are not ready to wake up yet. She is there waiting for Jen in the morning after Paul leaves for work, just excited to see her get up. This is the start of her morning routine.

The routine in the morning for the next few more weeks while she is really little, is that she gets two tablespoons of wet food to "jump start" her nutrition for the day. She knows this all too well, so from the minute that Jen leaves the bedroom door, Belle is meowing, and purring while she waits for her morning treat. This is definitely her favorite part of the day. She will have a hard time transitioning to being without this in the mornings, as Jen will miss the cute little "meows" and things she gets from Belle while she waits for her food.

She purrs a lot, and never fails to let you know how much she loves to be loved, petted, and played with. We are blessed to have her, and we will keep you updated on her growth with
more photos and blogs in the future.
