As time has passed while hosting Wharff.net, I have received several emails from Wharffs around the world. One of them is a lawyer in Australia, another named Christina Wharff in Arizona informed me that her Grandfather, Charles Wharff, was mayor of Yountville, California for many years. Wow, sooo cool, my Grandpa is named Charles as well (evidently there are many Charles' in our Genealogy). And more recently I got an email from a gal named Debra Wharff who happens to live about 30 minutes from us AND she has many Wharff relatives that live close by as well! I guess we're not alone! I always thought of the "Wharff" name as one that was unique and very rare, but I'm finding out differently (about the rare part of-course, heehee). So I had an idea, why not keep a map of all these Wharff's so that others can see that there are many Wharffs out there and the networking could begin :-) . So one thing led to another and a thought came to me again, I realized... wait a minute... I'm doing genealogy and it's really fun after all! Too cool, I always thought of doing genealogy as somewhat of a boring task, even though I am LDS. So above you can see the map I've created and as you can see the arrow, this points to where this map will always reside at Wharff.net, just a quick click away from most areas of the site. I actually was able to find my 8 times great grandfather who was born in 1662 and his wife's father was Thomas Riggs, which led me to his historical house which still stands today, alongside a bed and breakfast. Wouldn't it be sooo cool to be able to stand in that house today and think that my great distant parents were once in that place, it just gives me chills! So, be sure to check out the map and if you're a Wharff that I don't know about and would like to have your push-pin on the map, please contact me (we will only use the city you're in, not your actual address as is true in the map today). Enjoy!
