Kaylene's 1st Birthday!!!

The picture above was taken exactly at 3:31 PM. Why the exact timing? Well, this, made her exactly 1 year old, down to the minute! Kaylene Jennifer Wharff was welcomed into this world exactly one year ago today. I cannot believe how fast the time has flown! It seems like it was just yesterday that we found out that we were pregnant, and expecting our little miracle! Little she was, weighing in at only 5 pounds 13 ounces at birth, and when we left the hospital she was down to 5 pounds .08 ounces. But, I loved having a small baby to cuddle and love. It is amazing the love that pours out of a parent for their child. Paul and I are so smitten with her, there is little that we would deny her.

For her big day, we kept it simple and sweet. It was a fun day, with activities and meals planned out to be everything that she would enjoy. She had her favorite food for lunch (bananas), we took her for a walk together (she loves looking at nature and people), and most importantly, took pictures and video about her day that culminated with her cake! The funny thing is, she really enjoyed getting the chance to be sung to as we belted out our best "Happy Birthday" to her, but as for the cake, she could pass on that one. We gave her a slice, and she was not very interested. She seemed almost either afraid, or perturbed by the frosting especially. We tried feeding it to her, modeling us eating it for her, but after about 15-20 minutes, we gave up as she sang us her version of "It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want To". Overall, it was a wonderful day, and we hope that you enjoy the pictures of our sweet little girl. Happy Birthday Kaylene!
