The Tandy Report for Saturday

Well, tonight we have some more news to be grateful for.

This morning the doctor decided that she was not breathing well enough on her own and therefore he ordered a tracheotomy. Even though we were nervous about it, it seems to have been the right decision. The doctor decided that not having air needing to go through her mouth would avoid bacteria, and irritation to her voice box and trachea. He also felt that she would get better quicker.

A few hours after the surgery, she was able to open her eyes several times, she looked at us and was able to answer a question by nodding her head up and down. Her fever is down today, it never went higher than 100.2 degrees, it had gone as high as 101.4 several days in a row.

We are so grateful for all the great care she has received at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital in Vancouver. It has also been a blessing to have Jennifer and Paul’s kind hospitality while here.
