The Tandy Report - Wednesday
Today, Tiffany and I went to Tandy's house to pack up some more things. While there the doctor called and said there were more problems with Tandy's tracheotomy. They had to replace it a third time because it kept popping out. I was stunned but agreed to it. Arriving at the hospital Tandy was bleeding profusely from her trache apparently without anyone noticing. I was so scared because they seem to worry about bleeding the most. They tried to stop the bleeding unsuccessfully. The intensivist tried next without luck. Finally an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist tried as well but decided that he needed to check it out further, told us what the problem could be and was taking her into surgery. An hour and a half later he and his assistant Dr. Sheppert (a member in Jennifer's ward) told us she had an arterial tear and they did all the repair needed. It finally stopped bleeding! With this new event Tiffany postponed her return until tomorrow. Tandy got her hair shampooed for the first time since she has been in the hospital, I guess they were trying to freshen her up for her birthday tomorrow. So things ended on a better note. This situation is a perpetual roller coaster and we were told by the nurses that this is the way it is in ICU.

I don't know how you are making it through each day. I read once that adversity doesn't BUILD character, it just REVEALS it. So it is in times like these that we find out what we are made of. And we know that we won't be given challenges we can't handle - although I'm sure you will agree that this in one you would rather not have been given! You are such an example of strength to me.
Keep the faith. We love you and are praying for you. Jan
Blow out some candles for me - We'll make some wishes =) Keep the faith! Laurie Ogden and family

Hi Jen,
I have been praying for you and your family since I got your email. I did not know there were updates until Paul informed me. I read through them and just cried so hard over the pain for your family. You truly have enormus strength and I will continue to pray. If you need anything please let me know. I am only a few short hours away and wouldn't mind coming to help or even watching Kaylene so you may rest.
Please let me know if you need me. I love you both so very much & will continue to keep you & your family in my prayers.
Love,
Mitzi

Sorry about the run-on sentence. As a teacher, I should know better. ;)
