Rather than keep Kaylene away from the apparent dangers of the stairs, over the past weeks I've been slowly helping and supervising her play on the stairs. At first, she could only lean on the first step and then slowly she would make her way up the first or second step, but she didn't quite have it down. Most of the time she would just lose her balance and start to fall. Ofcourse I was there to catch her everytime! She really started to get the hang of it when instead of trying to simply pull herself up the stairs with her arms, she would try to crawl up them. Soon enough, she finally made it up the first flight of stairs and the second. The next problem was, "how do I get down dada"? Ofcourse she didn't say that, but I could see it in her expressions when she looked right at me with confusion. A couple times she tried to go head first down the stairs, which scared me and her, but ofcourse I caught her everytime. Being scared, she realized there has to be a better way down and on her own, just like she gets off the couch, she went backwards and slides down perfectly every single time without fear and is happy all the time. We now can't keep her off them and she's become a master of going up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down.... for hours! Even though she's quite the "Super" hero of the stairs , we still supervise her everytime, but I think she likes having us there with her to "play the stairs game". Check out the pics.
